Edits I Made To The Song

I made some slight edits to the Original song in order for it to better fit my vision. The original song was far too slow and was around 4 minutes therefore i decided to speed it up and take away/ cut some of the verses from the original. Below are some of the screenshots that I took whilst editing

Updated lyrics after editing

I don't know where you come from,
But you're everywhere I go.
I don't know why you chose me (why me?)
But as long as your here, I don't need to know.

So don't go

Yeah, when I got introduced to you,
I knew I'd be true to you,
Everyone wanted a piece, you whispered to me sweet guys like me you love.
And I feel it in my soul,
It's like you're always with me on the road.
Phone in my hand while I listen to you moan,
And everybody in the car wants to try and get involved,
Yeah, then you make a silly tone,
Puppy love now, like give a dog a bone,
Shut me how I can breathe when I'm a frown
Our loves concrete
We should lead a setting stone

Yeah and when ever I'm in doubt,
You forever calm me down
And sometimes I'm a dummy and I know I would of crashed if you never was around

So don't go,
Don't leave,
Please stay,
With me,
You are, the only thing, I need to get by,
Get by.

Yeah I spend a little change on you,
But you always give it back.
Cos' I know you ain't here for the money,
You just wanna see me be the man
So I earnt my respect like a true gentleman,
All rumours where capital E relevant.
We should get three two emblems,
i give my life to you that's a street settlement.

Yeah, I'm feeling ever so emotional,
Cos I never had nothing when approaching you,
Sitting with a straight face on a poker man,
That's why a song like this has been over due,
Due over time,
Time over,

Love drunk you and I would die sober.
I'm in this for forever and a day
That's why wherever I go, they've got to put you on a plane

So don't go,
Don't leave,
Please Stay,
With me,
You are the only thing I need, to get by
To get by

So don't go,
Don't leave,
Please stay,
With me,
You are the only thing I need, to get by
To get by.

Costume, Props and equipment I Need

Costume, Props and Equipment I Need For My Music Video

In preparation for my music video I decided to create a list of props and costumes ( types of clothes/ styles) I need in order to allow me to be organised and have everything I need when it comes to the start of filming. Hopefully this will mean my music video will be the best it possibly can.

Props/Equipment:
  • Tripod
  • Cannon EOS
  • Zoomed lense
  • Lyric sheets
Costume:

  • Chains/jewellery for Marcel to wear ( to give the video a urban/street theme)
  • Different urban jumpers/coats/T-Shirt perhaps even tracksuits e.g. nike, this is because a tracksuit is usually the stereotypical dress sense for urban/street youths.
  • Rucksack ( style purpose only)
  • Different Shoes

  • Below are some examples of clothing and accessories I hope to use during filming:

    Urban American Music

I decided to look at some urban american music videos in order to give me some inspiration and allow me to compare ideas for my music video. It also allows me to hopefully another dimension to music video.

    The Game ft Drake-100

This is one of my favourite music videos because not only is it very simple but it is also a very urban american video. Its set in only a couple of locations which are all very street-like and show the hoods/run down parts of America.

    N.W.A- Straight Outta Compton

Another classic music video and also a very street related video. Its a very iconic song and video and changed the rap/ hip-hop. Filmed in the hoods of Compton, i really took inspiration from the music video because i believe it shows its audience a different side of the country something i want to try and do.

Eminem & Dr. Dre-Forgot About Dre

Certain shots which include Dr.Dre and Eminem under bridges and on the street inspired me to make a very urban street based music video.

    Target Audience

    Target Audience & Questionnaire

I created a Questionnaire and asked people around my school in order to gain responses to inspire me and help me decide what features to include in my video and it even helped me what type of song to do. Questions from this can be seen below.

The Influence Top Boy and Music Video's had on me

    The Tv show: Top Boy

The British drama, Top Boy which is set in South/East London had a very large influence on my decision as to what song to choose and music video to accompany it. Set on the fictional Summerhouse housing estate in HackneyEast London, the series follows the lives of a group of people involved in drug dealing and street gangs. After watching Top Boy I knew I wanted to choose a British hip-hop/ Grime song. This is because the series gave me inspiration to film my music video in the suburbs of London and keep it very urban. I wanted to try and show the lesser known/ unvisited parts of London and the rougher parts of London. I feel I've been able to relate to  the show more than most as I was born in South East London near Lewisham and therefore this show attracts me instantly as some of the locations used are similar to the palaces I grew up in. In parts of my life I've also grown up  around similar people represented in this show and therefore i can understand/relate to the decisions and actions taken by some of the characters.

Other Music Videos I took Inspiration from

Find A Way- Jay Silva Ft Brandz

I took inspiration from this music video because the song is in the UK Grime/ Hip-Hop genre and is similar to the song I decided to create a music video to. This music video gave me huge inspiration in terms of the locations used in the video.  Jay Silva filmed had this video filmed around central London whilst still keeping it in an urban theme. The video was filmed at night because not only does it show a Beautiful view of London's lights which I feel is very effective for the song as it portrays the deep meaning of the song, however I still want to keep my music video during the day because I feel more detail can be seen during natural daylight. Apart from the location, I took inspiration in the clothing both Brandz and Jay Silva were wearing. This was very urban street wear whilst still looking classy, something I want to try and replicate. I took some screenshots of the music video below where I felt inspired including the locations and clothing

High Spec - Skrapz ft Chip

Again another Uk Grime music video I took inspiration from, similar to the music video to Find A Way ( as shown above) I took inspiration in terms of mainly the locations in central London used, in particular this music video shows many shots of London bridge, as seen below. The whole music video has a very urban feel to it especially those shots filmed in a tunnel, something I want to try and replicate in my music video. I also got inspiration in terms of accessories both Chip and Skrapz wear, in particular the jewellery such as watches and chains they wear, this creates an urban/ street look whilst still being classy. Again I have screenshotted some of the moments in this music video that really inspired me

    Dont go Music Video

    Don't Go Music Video

    Original Song and Artist

    My Song

Dont go- Wretch 32 ft Josh Kumra

    Wretch 32

Jermaine Scott Sinclair (born 9 March 1985), better known by his stage name Wretch 32, is an English hip hop recording artist from Tottenham, London. He was a member of the grime collective "Combination Chain Gang", before forming The Movement with ScorcherGhetts, and Mercston. Wretch released his first single "Traktor" in January 2011. In 2011, Wretch 32 had three top-five charting songs from debut album Black and White and amassed over a million record sales. In 2012 he was used by both Adidas and Coca-Cola as one of the main faces of their London 2012 Olympics campaigns and on 1 July 2012 he won 'Best International Act' at the 2012 BET Awards

Other Awards and nominations are shown below

Why Did I Choose This Song

I decided to choose this song as its one of my favourite and was one of my first UK hip-hop songs I remember. If you take this song and its lyrics at face value, many people think its about a relationship however in a recent interview Wretch says theres a deeper meaning to the lyrics, in fact at the time the record was produced Wretch was single and the lyrics were how he felt about music, the importance it played in making him the person he is today and also where he would be without music. According to wretch without music being so important in his life, he cant see his worth or value on the world. This deeper meaning was one of the reason I decided to use the song as it adds a level of subjectivity to the song and shows the thought and emotion behind the lyrics of the song.

    Don't Go lyrics

    Together were gonna make history,
Why would you wanna be else where?

    Don't go leave me now,
    Don't go leave me.
Stay right here till my darks day in to light years Imma shine.
    Don't go leave me now,

    Don't leave,
    Please stay,
    With me,

    To only get by.

    My Favourite Music Videos

    My favourite music Videos

    The Real Slim Shady-Eminem (2000).
Eminem is one of my favourite rappers and this music video sums up his style and individuality completely. The music video is very whacky and seems to be a comedy throughout parts. What i love about Eminem is his ability to express exactly how he feels without caring what society may think of him, often making his music very controversial.

    Thriller-Michael Jackson (1983)
A 14-minute long showing Jackson in a Horror-themed performance premiered on November 14, 1983. At fourteen minutes the video is substantially longer than the song, which ties together a narrative featuring Jackson and actress Ola Ray in a setting heavily inspired by horror films of the 1950s. In the video's most iconic scene, Jackson leads other actors costumed as zombies in a choreographed dance routine. Though it garnered some criticism for its occult theme and violent imagery, the video was immediately popular and received high critical acclaim, being nominated for six MTV Music Video Awards in 1984 and winning three. Its one of the most recognisable music videos ever. I love this music video as it tells a horror story with music and dancing

    Outkast-Hey ya (1995)
This music video was inspired on the Beatles appearance at the Ed Sullivan Show. Its a Very clever music video as we see the lead singer (Andre 3000) plays every role of the band "the love below". The music video makes us feel as if we are watching a live performance of the song as their is a crowd present at the time.

    N.W.A-Straight outta Compton (1989)
N.W.A, the group that changed rap music. Arguably one of their most famous songs which saw them rise from the streets of Compton to fame and wealth. This music video portrays the black communities struggle with the police, and the unfair treatment they receive on the streets. In the music video we see the police trying to arrest the members of the group which is trying to show the injustice of the society they were living in.

    Travis Scott- Butterfly Effect
This is one of my favourite music videos because its a very unique looking music video. Directed by duo BRTHR, the psychedelic video weaves between fast cars, a pool party, and of course butterflies. In several shots, Scott hangs out the passenger window as he cruises down the highway. One particular aspect of the music video I feel is very pleasing to the eye is the wide variety of colours and effects Scott uses.

    Kendrick Lamar-Humble

A vey recent music video which his already a favourite of mine. Directed by Dave Myers and The Little Homies, both set their aim on just how removed from reality society has become. initially dressed like the Pope in a cassock, the scene immediately jumps to Lamar in all black lying on a table of money, ignorantly shooting loads of green from a cash cannon. First, he’s an unassuming man of the church, then an ostentatious braggart, setting the tone for a clip that features its subjects at their “best” and “worst.” Next, there’s a reenactment of Leonardo da Vinci’s 15th-century painting, The Last Supper. The entire “Humble” video is a poignant exercise in irony and is also filled with messaging that could be perceived as anti-conformist. It’s unclear if scenes where Lamar and his corn-rowed head is the only one with hair in a sea of bald Blacks or the closing shot of him being the only man wearing white at what's possibly a funeral are jarring images that could have deeper meanings,

Lil Uzi Vert- You Was right

Another one of my favourite music videos is You was Right by Lil Uzi Vert. This video is very different to most music videos released, The theme involves taking an old story ( alice in wonderland ) but making it very futuristic/ modern, showing the creative process and thing behind this video. If you look at other music videos by Uzi he has a similar theme in terms of using basic settings and making them seem very futuristic by editing and even props used.
